Preparing a crate that can meet the handling, storage and environmental conditions of export
shipping is one thing. Building and getting it certified to meet the maze of international, national and regional regulations
is quite another. Because wood packaging materials (WPM) are recognized as potential pathways for the introduction and spread
of pests, international treatment guidelines have been adopted by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC).
Industrial & Wholesale Lumber, as a leading manufacturer of wooden shipping crates, pallets
and skids, has not only adopted the official export treatment and marking program which meets the International Standards
for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM) guidelines for regulating wood packaging materials in international trade (ISPM-15).
We’re also one of the few manufacturers in the country approved to perform certification and stamping at our
facility. Which is another reason why IWL is a leader in export certification.
The following are organizations
you may find of interest on this subject, as well as an industry glossary, which will familiarize you with some of the terminology
we use. Industrial & Wholesale Lumber spends an exhausting amount of time researching and staying abreast of the regulations
which impact our products. Simply tell us where your shipment needs to go and we will take care of the rest.
